Getting our Learn on @ MLL Insurance
Our agency recently completed the Total Quality Agency (TQA) program through our state association, MAIA. Check out our blog post here about TQA mllins.com/news/2017/02/tqa-w!
We created our business pland and are in the phase of implementation! I LOVE implementation but I also “get” that people don’t LOVE change like I do J One of our goals was to start implementing more educational opportunities for our team. Teri and Tracy have both completed their insurance licensing courses and will be working towards designations in insurance this year.
Our sales team has also been busy learning too! They recently attended the MAIA Annual Convention where they participated in various continuing education classes with topics ranging from ethics, certificate of insurance, tips for financial success and panel discussions on hiring, training and retaining staff. Last week the sales team had the opportunity to attend a class on Employment Practices Liability coverage.
It has been a great change of pace for the team to get out of the office to network with other insurance agents, CSR’s and insurance company representatives. This gives them the opportunity to learn from others outside of our office but also to build relationships, enhance their networking skills and find and develop mentors.
Back in the office we have been holding mini meetings with not only our sales team but also the entire team. These mini-meetings have a sales focus where we have experienced team members sell each other a home and auto policy. They demonstrate how to respond to client’s questions and concerns. It helps our less experienced staff feel more confident and comfortable selling and it helps to enhance the sales skills they already have developed. It also showcases the talent and mentoring sills of our experienced team.
The sales team also has a coverage or process that they talk about each meeting so they call can learn from one another but also so that everyone is on the same page about the office processes and procedures. Lastly, in our agency wide team meetings we have had a team member present on a topic that they have experience with so the rest of the team can learn from their experiences too. Chad shared his experience writing a long term care policy and up next will be Chris who will present on his experience with garages.
Our experienced team can’t know everything so we feel by investing in our team and education everyone wins! Plus, it’s also fantastic for everyone to learn from someone other than us. We want them to learn from others who have different life experiences! My grandpa and great Aunt Thelma said it best “Never stop learning! No one can ever take your education away from you!”
