MLL Cares Program Spotlight: Haslett Food Pantry
Within the walls of the Haslett Community Church, that community is hard at work – The Mary L. Nelson Memorial Haslett Food Pantry has been a cornerstone of the Haslett School District for over 40 years! This organization is the July 2023 pick for the MLL Cares: Your Trusted Choice for Charities program, and we would love to tell you about it!
The Haslett Food Pantry, associated with the Greater Lansing Food Bank, supplies a week’s worth of meals and personal care items for entire households. Their current average is 55 assisted families per month! Regardless of age, employment status, marital status, or disability status, you can count on the Haslett Food Pantry – no application needed. They also make referrals to other agencies to prevent utility shut-offs and housing evictions!
An anonymous father of three is quoted on their website: “After we got groceries from the Food Pantry, we had enough money to get the car fixed and I was able to keep my job,” he attested. The impact of this work on the lives of those in need right here in our own community is incalculable. MLL is thrilled for the opportunity to support their mission! MLL Cares: Trusted Choice for Charities program was developed by Will and Lisa Lemanski of MLL Insurance three years ago, with a simple mission: to donate $500 each month to a local non-profit referred to them by YOU: their clients! Charities that are not immediately selected are placed on a wait list for later nominations. Have someone in mind?
